Annual rates at 7% of an assessed value

Rs. 1260
💡 What it's asking: Rates are a yearly tax that is a percentage of the property's assessed value. Here we need 7% of Rs. 18 000.
- Write 7% as a fraction: 7/100.
- Multiply by the assessed value: 18 000 × 7/100.
- 18 000 ÷ 100 = 180, and 180 × 7 = 1260. So the rates are Rs. 1260 a year.
✅ 10% of 18 000 is 1800, so 7% must be a bit less, and 1260 is. (The marking scheme prints a different number by mistake.)

Base angle of an isosceles triangle with apex 40 degrees

x = 35 degrees
💡 What it's asking: AB = AC, so the triangle is isosceles and the two base angles are equal. Write the angle sum with x and solve.
- AB = AC, so angle B = angle C. Each is 2x.
- Angle sum: 2x + 2x + 40 = 180.
- 4x = 140, so x = 35.
✅ Each base angle is 2 × 35 = 70°, and 70 + 70 + 40 = 180.
සිංහලෙන් විසඳුම
AB = AC නිසා ත්රිකෝණය සමද්විපාද වන අතර පාද කෝණ දෙක සමානයි. x සහිතව කෝණ එකතුව ලියා විසඳන්න.
- AB = AC නිසා B = C කෝණ. එක එකක් 2x.
- කෝණ එකතුව: 2x + 2x + 40 = 180.
- 4x = 140; එබැවින් x = 35.
